A hardware refresh goes wrong when it starts with a shopping list instead of a workload. Before specifying anything, work through five questions that separate real bottlenecks from perceived ones.
The five questions
- Where does the work actually stall — viewport, render, export or everything at once?
- Which applications are certified for the hardware you are considering?
- Is the current bottleneck the GPU, or is memory and storage starving it?
- Will your power and cooling support the next generation, not just this one?
- What does the upgrade path look like in two years?
Refresh with headroom
The best refreshes feel unremarkable on day one and indispensable a year later. Specify for the workload you are growing into, not the one you have today — and validate with a real project file before you commit.
